St Josephs Hospital Kitovu
St. Joseph’s hospital Kitovu also known as Kitovu Health Care Complex (KHCC) is a large complex made up of several semiautonomous units the largest of which is the hospital. It is located in Masaka Municipality/ City of Masaka district. Kitovu hospital was founded in 1955 by the late Arch Bishop Joseph Kiwanuka as a hospital serving the needy and vulnerable. The hospital has grown over the years to a complex offering a variety of integrated health care services. Kitovu hospital is registered, licensed and regulated by the Uganda medical and dental practitioners’ council and also accredited by the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB).
It is a Private Not for Profit (PNFP) hospital classified by the ministry of health as a General hospital. Kitovu hospital was in its early years managed by the Religious Congregation of the Medical Missionaries of Mary (MMM) Sisters from Ireland who on the 15th of December 2001handed over the administration of the hospital to the indigenous Congregation of the Daughters of Mary (DM) sisters (Bannabikira) who are currently running the hospital. The current bed capacity of the hospital is 248.
In our hospital, we have had new innovations that we did not have over the years. The changes have improved on our patient numbers despite COVID -19. Some of the major changes made over the years include;
